Collapse Aware AI
Governed retained-state selection for systems where previous events should matter
Modern AI and workflow systems can already store history, retrieve context, enforce policy and expose several possible next actions.
A narrower problem remains:
**When several actions are permitted, what governs which one actually wins when previous events should matter?**
Collapse Aware AI™ (CAAI) is retained-state middleware for governed selection.
Decision Lab — Collapse Aware AI™
The host supplies the permitted candidate actions. Relevant retained history may influence which candidate wins, while final selection remains bounded, inspectable and replayable in tested conditions.
**Retained history is eligible evidence, not automatic authority.**

## Core Gold — Available Now
Core Gold is the current commercial selector foundation.
It is designed for bounded decision problems where:
- several actions are already permitted;
- previous events may legitimately affect the next choice;
- the host must retain final control;
- the resulting selection needs to be inspectable;
- repeatability and decision evidence matter.
Current capabilities include:
- retained-state-sensitive selection;
- persistent retained state and recall;
- deterministic/repeatable local selection in tested conditions;
- governor-controlled influence;
- durable Decision Records;
- customer-safe evidence;
- validation and controlled fallback behaviour;
- local selection without requiring a model-provider call for every decision where the candidate set already exists.
CAAI does **not** replace the host system, model, workflow engine or policy layer.
It operates at the selection boundary between **what is allowed** and **what happens next**.
---
## Works Alongside Existing AI Stacks
CAAI is not intended to replace frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, policy engines or guardrail systems.
Those systems may handle:
**state and orchestration → permissions and policy → validation**
CAAI addresses a different question:
**Which permitted action should win when retained history is relevant?**
That makes CAAI potentially complementary to existing agent and workflow infrastructure rather than a replacement for it.

# Retained-State Decision Audit
The simplest commercial starting point is a **Retained-State Decision Audit**.
You provide:
- one real or anonymised decision problem;
- a bounded set of permitted candidate actions;
- relevant retained history where required.
We evaluate whether retained-state-sensitive selection produces a useful, governable and inspectable difference at that decision boundary.
The evaluation can include:
- reference versus governed selection;
- measurable retained-state influence;
- replay and repeatability evidence;
- Decision Records;
- customer-safe findings;
- recommendation on whether a larger pilot is justified.
The purpose is not to replace your current system.
It is to answer one practical question:
**Should retained history materially affect which permitted action is selected?**
If there is credible fit, the next step can progress to a bounded Core Gold evaluation, buyer-specific paid pilot, and later integration or licensing.
---
## Where It Can Fit
Potential applications include:
- AI-agent next-action selection;
- collections and vulnerability workflows;
- insurance and fraud decisions;
- regulated customer journeys;
- complaints and case management;
- training and simulation;
- games and authored NPC behaviour;
- evaluation of stateful decision systems.
The common structure is the same:
**several actions are permitted + previous events should matter + the final choice needs to remain governed.**
---
## Evolution 2
Evolution 2 is a separate engineering branch exploring richer continuity, structured retained state, open loops, interaction history, contradiction/change handling and behavioural signals.
It is **not currently represented as the finished Production commercial offer**.
Core Gold remains the current commercial selector foundation.

# Start With One Decision
If your system already has several legitimate actions and previous events should influence which one is selected, give us:
**one anonymised decision problem and the permitted actions.**
That is enough to begin determining whether CAAI is relevant.
